FTTC Speeds rising to 80MB during 2012 - 85% of businesses have access - Order Now.
With speeds racing up to 40Mb, Fibre to the Cabinet is on its way with a delivery programme planned across the country by BT! Visit any built up area and you will find dark green cabinets along the roadside. These cabinets have historically contained all the connections and communications equipment for your Internet and telephony connections. BT is in the process of introducing their new Fibre To The Cabinet (FTTC) services. So, there will be additional cabinets appearing across the county which will house the fibre optic equipment needed to deliver these new services. This fibre will be replacing the copper-wire technology which exists between the exchange and the green cabinets. The result of this new technology means that FTTC could provide a massive (up to) 40Mb download and 10Mb upload speeds!
In addition, Norango is very excited about the development of Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) services - get ready for (up to) 100Mb download speeds rising to 300Mb in 2012 – so keep watching our website for further news on this!

Installation of the FTTC services
During the installation of the FTTC service, a BT engineer will fit a service specific front plate to the existing NTE5. A service specific face plate splits the delivery of telephony and DSL signals at the NTE5 (Network Terminating Equipment No.5), delivering each service to a separate port on the socket. This terminates the DSL signal at this point, meaning the signal is not received on any telephone extension sockets that may exist.
A VDSL2 modem will be supplied and connected to the data port of the service specific front plate. ADSL filters are not required in the End User’s premises as the Fibre to the Cabinet service is provided to the NTE5 (and data extension kit where the active NTE is to be sited more than 1.5m from the master socket, if provided), and not through to the telephony extensions.
